Mike Rudd Interview

NeilRadio Ga Ga Interviews

The late Bill Putt, me and Mike at a gig in 2010.

It was great to catch up with local boy Mike Rudd, who came to Australia from New Zealand in 1966 and kicked off his musical career in this country with Ross Wilson and Ross Hannaford in The Pink Finks. He first saw commercial success in Australia with Spectrum and the mega-hit, I’ll Be Gone.

Since the Spectrum days, Mike, along with his great mate, Bill Putt, has formed The Indelible Murtceps (a more “portable” version of Spectrum), Ariel, Instant Replay, Mike Rudd & The Heaters, W.H.Y and Number 9. Since 1999, the lads have been back doing the rounds of pubs, festivals and other gigs as Spectrum.

UPDATE: Sadly Bill passed away in August 2013. Mike along with regulars Robbo and Daryl have continued as Spectrum with Broc O’Connor joining the group most recently.
