It had to be, didn’t it?

One of the absolute, all-time Australian classics, written about a location in South Vietnam that saw a bloody battle in the first half of 1968.

Over time, the song has become a bit of an anthem for Australia’s Vietnam veterans but has also become an engrained part of Australian music history. It doesn’t get much more Aussie than this and there is something special about hear the song when you find yourself overseas and away from home.

There’s not much else to say. Except … we’ll be back in July with Neil’s next Top 30 countdown.
